FIBRE ART
Fibre art is the creation of art using fibres. Fibres can be natural or man made and can vary from wool, to paper, from grass to seaweed, from felt to silk, and much more.
Fibers are holding tissues together. They can be spun into
filaments, thread, string or rope. They can be used as a component of composite
materials. They can also be matted into sheets to make products such as paper
or felt.
Natural fibers are those produced by plants, animals, and geological processes.

Fibre art includes (among many others):
Crochet - Embroidery - Feltmaking - Knitting
- Lace - Needlework - Patchwork - Quilting - Sewing
- Tapestry - Tatting - Weaving
- Knotting - Doll making.
Other related arts are : paper making,
sculpting, making silk
paper, basketweaving, and we will be
adding more as we go along.
Fibres can be used to create useful garments such as woolen jumpers, felted hats and boots or to produce magnificent woven table cloths, wall hangings quilted collages, hand bags, embroidered dresses, woven baskets and furniture.
Fibres can of course also be used to make a statement, to create an expression of emotions, to reflect the inner self.
No matter what your intentions are with fibres, feel free to find the one that tickles your fancy and contact an artist for some hands-on experience!
