MIXED MEDIA
Mixed media in visual art, refers to an artwork made using various techniques and media.
When creating a work of art using Mixed Media
it is important to know the characteristics of the various methods used. You
need to choose the layers carefully and allow enough drying time between layers
to insure the final work will have integrity.

Mixed media can mean using ink for the drawing, water colour, gouache and oil on top... but it can also stand for an art piece consisting of various materials such as textile, leather, metal or cork combined with a variety of paints.
The use of mixed
media began around 1912 with the Cubist collages and constructions of Pablo
Picasso and Georges Braque and has become widespread as artists developed
increasingly open attitudes to the media of art.
