Coombe Farm Studios was founded in 1983 in an area not only designated as one of outstanding natural beauty but of huge creative talent. To-day we are privileged to work with consummate and dedicated professionals of Fine and Applied arts who constantly challenge their own development.
We offer short courses which allow participants of all ages the opportunity to discover and develop their creative interests in a relaxed and tranquil setting.
The tutors are all artists and makers who earn their living at their chosen art or craft, thus the courses are a real “handing on” of a skill where as much is gained from the interaction of fellow students as the excitement of the creative process itself.
We run a variety of courses throughout the year both residential and non residential. The courses are largely tutored by the renowned resident watercolourist Paul Riley supported by professional teachers and practitioners in the fields of mixed media, ceramics, wood turning and pastels. To complete your creative experience we offer you excellent home cooked, largely organic food, grown on the premises or sourced from local farms – and good company! More information about us and the locality on our website.
“Many, many thanks for the best Coombe Farm week so far, having had a lovely time and full of the latest Riley ideas on watercolour to inspire me. My suitcases lie still packed where I dropped them in the hall, I'm too busy painting....
Over the last 15 years we have also run painting holidays in Europe Asia and Africa choosing locations and cultures to both excite the artist and enthral the traveller.
Alongside the working studios is an art gallery representing the best talent from the south west region alongside nationally and internationally acclaimed artists. |

Her work is inspired by the wildness of the landscape in the highlands, and reflects her interest in surface pattern and texture. Liz often uses these elements to capture moments full of strong emotion in contemporary styles.
Liz works with children and adults, and those with special needs, She also works freelance for larger, community projects, and welcomes enquiries for such. Workshops are tailored to the needs of specific groups, from families on holiday wanting to experiment with clay, to more advanced groups wanting a water colour tutorial. So log on to www.wildandart.co.uk for the start of a creative adventure!

The courses which we offer have, at their roots, skills which are traditional, and most are suitable for complete beginners. Among others there is sculpting with clay, metal and stone.
Simon and Anna Cooley welcome you to their beautifully situated family home, 3 miles from Abergavenny, “gateway to the mountains”.
Courses take place in Simon’s traditional stone barn, and Anna provides family-style catering and hospitality.
