SKETCHING
A quick freehand drawing to capture the emotion of the moment. Make notes of the colours, shapes, direction of the light and other details which will allow you later to recreate that scene as closely as possible.
It is the best way to learn to draw with accuracy and with
ease : sketch at every available opportunity.
You can use pencils or charcoal but sketches can also be made using watercolour,
gouache, clay or soft wax.

Sketching will sharpen your ability to focus and is part of the artistic development for students an professionals alike.
Sketchbooks sometimes become more then just
a collection of thoughts and stills of a moment in time, they can develop
into real masterpieces in their own right.

Take a sketch book with you to sporting events, while walking in the Highlands, while visiting wildlife parks and nature reserves and observe...
